In the best marketing move ever for a Star Wars movie, the official poster has just arrived one day ahead of the new trailer as well as the pre-sale for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Here we finally get look at some of the characters seen in previous trailers all artistically gathered together.
The artwork is pretty much like what we’ve seen in previous Star Wars posters. It doesn’t have the same “touch” that came from the D23 poster by Drew Struzan, and despite the rumors that the poster might receive a new logo instead of the one we’ve seen previously, it’s still a good poster!!!
Here’s the official Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster:
There really isn’t a lot given away in this poster (unlike the poster for Return Of The Jedi which showed an incomplete Death Star), instead if gives us more questions than answers. For example, in the upper right hand corner we see something that looks like might be a new super weapon. There is also the positioning of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) that would suggest she is holding a double-bladed lightsaber much like Darth Maul’s, but closer examination proves otherwise.
We see familiar faces in R2-D2 and C-3PO, as well as Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) next to each other, but the most curious aspect of this is the total lack of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker. It’s pretty clear that the studio wants to keep him “officially” secret (despite a leaked photograph that has found its way on to the Internet), so while we may yet again hear his voice tomorrow, it’s highly doubtful we’ll see his face.
Will we get to see any of this stuff in tomorrow’s new trailer? We’ll just have to wait patiently to see what director J.J. Abrams sees fit to show us.
