The film will be distributed by Universal Pictures around the world with the exception of China. Pacific Rim: Maelstrom will arrive in theaters February 23, 2018.

The original Pacific Rim hit theaters in summer 2013 and grossed $101 million at the domestic box office. It went on to take in over $411 million worldwide. The first one starred Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, and Ron Perlman.

Now that Pacific Rim: Maelstrom has started production, what do you hope to see in the sequel? Are you looking for something new that builds upon what we saw in the first film, or are you simply hoping for more of the same?
