While the Two Gay Geeks and our staff are taking a much needed break we wanted to take a moment and wish every one of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. We are very thankful for each and every visitor to our website that takes the time to read an article or peruse our offerings. We are also very thankful for all of the listeners to our podcast and are supportive of us. Thank you to the many folks who have taken the time to comment on our articles, our Facebook posts, our Tweets, and our posts on Instagram. We do all of this for you. Thank you.

We have said that we wish everyone a safe, sane, and satisfying holiday season. However, we do know that the holiday season can be very stressful for many and we want to be sure that you take care of yourself during this time.

Below are a few resources and tips for you to ponder should you find yourself in crisis or just need to chat with someone.

Here is a link to a very good article about the Crisis text line at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. They provide the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline as well as the Crisis Text line.

You can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

For those that know someone in crisis, here is a link to an article on how to be supportive on social media.

Here is a link to the Crisis Text Line. The article talks about how the holidays can be a disaster for the mental health of some and how they exist to assist folks through those disasters.

We also know that some individuals may have a plan to come out during the holidays or may be outed in some way. Here are a few articles and resources for those situations.

Here is a link to an older article from USA Today about how to be supportive of those that may be experiencing a holiday as newly out or using different pronouns.

Here is a link to an article at Pride.com on how to be supportive of a friend who is planning to come out during the holidays.

And finally, we always give a shout out to The Trevor Project who are doing an outstanding job of being supportive of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community. If you or someone you know needs help, please call the TrevorLifeline at 1-866-488-7386 or visit The Trevor Project.

Please be kind to yourself this holiday season. It does get better.

Of course, there has to be a cat.
